Virtual Reality In Travel - Should Your Hotel Embrace It?

TrustYou brainTRUST Blog 30 October 2017
When the Lumière brothers pioneered a little concept called cinematography, back in 1896, the moving image of a train arriving in a station was incredibly mind-blowing for people everywhere. It fact, it was so unbelievable that it is said the first audience ran away screaming from the theater because they felt like the train was coming right at them and they perceived it as a real danger. Fast forward more than a century and we are now running towards such concepts instead of away from them. Even the rise of 3D, once the movie Avatar aired, seems to be such a thing of the past, not to mention the first movie ever made. We are constantly looking for the new and exciting and there are very few things seem to impress us nowadays. Virtual reality, however, is one of them.

TrustYou brainTRUST Blog 29 August 2017
It has become pretty clear by now that millennial travelers are here to stay. Sure, Gen Z is quickly catching up, but millennials are still leading the race and hospitality is going above and beyond to adapt to this particular generation of consumers. Driving millennials to a hotel and keeping things as personal as possible has become a priority for hotels and, naturally, this includes direct bookings.

How to make your hotel's social media a source for travel inspiration (II) - Instagram & Pinterest

TrustYou brainTRUST Blog 30 May 2017
In our previous post, we began to dive into social media and how you, as a hotelier, can transform it into a source for travel inspiration. More specifically, we talked about how you can optimize your hotel’s Facebook and Twitter profiles, in order to make sure that they appeal to travelers and are going to be a reason for them to choose and book your hotel.

APIs and how to use them to increase bookings

TrustYou brainTRUST Blog 17 May 2017
Consider, in your experience, the rarity of true leadership and the unusual nature of reliable leadership. While leadership has nothing to do with time in a position or age, it is a reflection of accountability, confidence, responsibility and wisdom.

Weekly Roundup #13: Travel, Tech, and Social Media

TrustYou brainTRUST Blog 31 March 2017
It was announced this week that AccorHotels, the management of Potel & Chatbot and Edmond de Rothschild Investment Partners have entered into exclusive negotiations to acquire the Group's entire share capital. Edmond de Rothschild Investment Partners and AccorHotels will respectively hold 51% and 40% of the share capital. The proposed transaction is currently under specific review by the competition authority.

Are Chatbots the Key to Guest Satisfaction?

TrustYou brainTRUST Blog 2 March 2017
If you ever had to call customer support, regardless of the specialty, you are familiar with the generic robot voice and elevator music at the beginning of the call. “Thank you for calling X. For Y related inquiries, please press 1”. Truth being told, no one can deny the functionality and the value of the chatbots. They help you get past the basic part of your demand, getting you from A to… well, M. But in the end what you really want, the reason why you made the call, is to talk to an actual person. To have a fellow human help you with your issue. To get to Z.

2 Questions You Should Ask Before Adding Amazon Echo to Your Hotel Room

TrustYou brainTRUST Blog 24 January 2017
Amazon will increasingly subsidize Echo by bundling content (think music, video) with the device,” Forrester Principal Analyst Thomas Husson told Yahoo Finance. "They can afford this since this is not core to their business model: the end-goal is to facilitate interactions." The last two words of Husson’s quote summarize what Amazon Echo can do for the hospitality industry: facilitate interactions. Indeed, that’s one of the reasons why the Wynn hotel recently announced that it’ll be putting Echo in all 4,748 of its hotel rooms by summer 2017. The question remains: is this beneficial or unnecessary?

3 Ways to Use Hotel Text Messaging to Increase Revenue

TrustYou brainTRUST Blog 4 January 2017
Often times, hoteliers, and particularly revenue managers, have to choose between strategies that enhance guest satisfaction versus those that increase revenues. You could offer unlimited, free wi-fi to guests in order to boost satisfaction, or you could charge a few dollars to make a profit from these services.

Hotel Case Study: How One Hotel Group Leveraged Guest Feedback to Increase Bookings

TrustYou brainTRUST Blog 19 October 2016
Three years ago, Petit Palace Hoteles, a young, modern hotel chain located in Spain, made the decision to utilize guest feedback to improve guest experiences, increase the number of returning visitors, and boost the number of direct bookings. In late 2013, Petit Palace Hoteles partnered with the world’s largest guest feedback platform, TrustYou, and the results have been nothing short of remarkable.

Win Against OTAs with Post-Stay Feedback

TrustYou brainTRUST Blog 12 October 2016
In this blog series, “Break Away from the OTA”, we have already discussed how hotels can counter OTAs during the search and booking and onsite experience phases of the guest journey. To help complete the cycle, we will continue with strategies that impact post-stay feedback. Did you know that nearly half of a hotel’s published online reviews are solicited from the hotel itself? While this may be a lot of work for the hotel, the end result is well worth the effort. Solicited guest reviews are positive 81% of the time and result in 8% higher scores for the hotel. Therefore, hotels should make use of any opportunity to encourage their guests to review their stay. More reviews equals better scores, higher rankings, and more bookings!

Hotelier Q&A: The Hotel Tech Stack And the Best Hotel Tech Investments

TrustYou brainTRUST Blog 11 October 2016
A lot can change in just a few years – especially in the hospitality industry. For today's hotelier, creating and maintaining a hotel tech stack is a constant challenge. David Tuza began his career in hospitality as the 10th employee at a then little-known company called SiteMinder. Pretty soon, the Australian-based company known for its cloud-based hospitality software had gone global, expanding to over 400 employees with over 22,000 hotels under its belt.

Back to the Basics: Is Hotel Wi-Fi an Amenity or a Necessity?

TrustYou brainTRUST Blog 4 October 2016
Hotels may debate over which amenities to offer at their property, but travelers agree: the one they want most is hotel Wi-Fi. A Hotels.com survey determined that over half of all hotel customers wish free wireless internet was available at all hotels. TripAdvisor confirms this finding, stating 46% of travelers would specifically book a different hotel if their first choice didn’t offer complimentary hotel Wi-Fi. These customer bases are too high to ignore. Internet has become a utility, like hot water or electricity, rather than an optional service. Guests have online access everywhere, from fast food restaurants to bus stops. It only makes sense that a place travelers are spending a third of their day (or more) should offer Wi-Fi as well, especially since hotels can use this access to their advantage during a guest’s stay as well.
