Keep Your Distribution Options Open and Grow Direct Bookings

Ecole hoteliere de Lausanne (EHL) 3 December 2018
In this crowded and competitive market, what's the best approach when it comes to marketing your hotel online? Hoteliers would - if they could - just focus on direct bookings with their potential clients. But with a plethora of online travel agencies out there such as booking.com and Expedia, hoteliers are having to reach out to potential guests via OTAs, even though it often means paying commissions of 15-20 percent on bookings.

Ecole hoteliere de Lausanne (EHL) 1 October 2018

Education: The Future is Made of Silicone and Carbon

Ecole hoteliere de Lausanne (EHL) 5 February 2018
Machine learning, technological singularity, transhumanism… It’s hard to thumb through a paper without landing on an article that explores the future of artificial intelligence. Some are ecstatic, others profess a dystopian future worthy of the darkest fictions. Whatever the issues are with this technological revolution, some things are certain: the world is changing, progress is rapid and new technologies are merging and leveraging each other in unforeseen ways.

Ecole hoteliere de Lausanne (EHL) 14 November 2017
With two 6-month internships during its bachelor program, EHL offers its students the opportunity to explore opportunities in various industries. But how does hospitality connect to technology innovation? Read our student story. Could you introduce yourself a little bit? My name is Elliot Morisod, I was born in Manhattan, New York, but grew up in Switzerland in a small city near Lausanne. I’ve always been passionate about technology and innovation and quickly became self-taught. Next to that, I am a music addict, going to a lot of gigs, festivals and producing music myself. I also love skiing during winter and skateboarding the rest of the time.

They turned their idea into a successful start-up

Ecole hoteliere de Lausanne (EHL) 22 June 2017
There are multiple theories on why some startups are successful while others fail. From the idea, to the management team, to the timing, shops are full of “how to succeed” books. But no one tells a more sincere story than the entrepreneurs themselves and more so if they are EHL Alumni invited back on campus.

What is Happening in the Tech World for Hotel Chains?

Ecole hoteliere de Lausanne (EHL) 19 December 2016
Technology is providing guests and hotel owners with capabilities never seen before. It speeds up, personalizes and puts power back into the guests’ hands. Tech is also revolutionizing the tasks and services expected of hotel managers. International hotel chains face their own challenges, including staying relevant in the face of globalization. Part of this challenge requires evolving with technology. Hotels that avoid upgrading and updating their tech capabilities stand to lose customers who are looking for amenities like free Wi-Fi and in-room mobile devices. At the same rate hotel managers who press forward with technology are able to save time, as well as money.
