TripAdvisor's announcement that it was shutting down TravelPod reverberated through the travel industry with about as much force as a falling pinecone. "Of course," I thought. "Who uses TravelPod anyhow?" The site's tagline as the 'Web's original travel blog' is a lot like saying that you were the ocean's first boat. That's nice but do we really want to be floating around on an ancient boat? Life has changed a lot, and it's not necessarily a good thing to be using that heritage as a selling point.
