Enhanced Facial Recognition and ID Scanning Technology Bolster Security and Further Streamline Check-In Experience

StayNTouch, A Shiji Group Brand recently enhanced the facial recognition and ID scanning functionality for its Mobile PMS, mobile check-in and self-service kiosk solutions. Using advanced AI and facial recognition technology, StayNTouch has made ID authentication scanning as quick and easy as taking a selfie, while providing additional assurances against false impersonation and fraud.

StayNTouch is now the first PMS on the market that allows guests to create a walk-in reservation at a smart kiosk, using information scanned directly from a guest's ID. StayNTouch's innovative facial recognition software matches a guest's face to their photo ID based on immutable biometric characteristics, while the system can also scan the textual elements of an ID to create or search for a reservation without requiring guests to enter their information manually.

This unique product enhancement was the result of numerous individual innovations that StayNTouch developed with Shiji's backing and assistance. At the forefront, is a custom AI framework that can automatically detect the presence of a human face on a document and differentiate between different types of government IDs. StayNTouch also partnered with Alia Technologies to design a sleek, minimalist kiosk for their self-service solution, including a custom document tray, specifically designed to function with the system's AI.

ID authentication happens in real-time using Acuant's AssureID system, which matches guest IDs against a 200+ country document library 一 the largest in the industry. StayNTouch programmers also developed a liveness-detection test to ensure that the system is scanning an actual person: Using dual-camera technology, the facial recognition systems can now detect image movement and depth, providing additional assurances against deep fake and image spoofing attacks.
